my ideas about wik.is.
wik.is is:
- a place where people can go to try out a hosted deki wiki
- a place where people can begin contributing with a low commitment, and then potentially moved onto the premium services or to their own deki wiki installations on their servers
- the data storage for deki wiki light (php-only) hosted on another server for personal use
- a way to build brand awareness about deki wiki
wik.is is not:
- social networking (nexus)
- a secure data storage for deki wiki light (php-only) hosted on another server for enterprise use
goals of the home page of wik.is:
- highlight the consumer features of deki wiki (we have "features" pages, but all our literature is aimed at the technical crowd: very few of our pages are targetted to the non-tech savvy users who simpy want to know: what powerful features does deki wiki offer me for content?
- highlight that wik.is is powered by deki wiki - as wik.is installations become larger and owners want greater control over the installations, migrations to their own deki wiki installations will be encouraged.
- easy sign-up
- less clutter

* drop the gradients (solid white is fine)
* right column needs a lot of work (maybe enclose the whole registration into its own little graphical box
* need the screenshots to be more blendy
* drop the corporate red and use something more "friendly"? (site looks too corporate-y)
* add links to forums
